ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The music of Daniel Garnett is an expression of praise and worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Among God’s creatures, man is unique in his innate ability to praise God through music. Next to prayer, music is our highest form of spiritual communication with God and our fellow man. This is accomplished as each believer actively participates by faith in worship by singing, playing an instrument or listening.
Not only is this a spiritual mode of communication, but Scripture reveals that it is empowered by the Holy Spirit Himself.
Like the guitar he plays, Daniel believes that God has also made him an instrument – an instrument of praise. To that end he desires to declare the glory of the Lord through his music and teaching.
Daniel was introduced to the Lord at the age of 34 while stationed in Italy in the Air Force. A BCM International missionary, from his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona was the instrument God chose. Having only a couple of years to go before retirement, he felt the Lord leading him to enhance his spiritual gift of teaching by at-tending a Bible college. He then attended and graduated as a Pastoral studies major from Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri.
Though continuing to teach, music has always played an important part in Daniel‘s life, beginning with his first “solo” (with mouth full of gingerbread) in kindergarten – The Gingerbread Man. As a young Junior High student he belonged to four choirs, plus being the soloist for an evangelistic team in northern Arizona.
During High School music became even more important to him as church, community and school choirs, Madrigal chorus, All State Choir, and solo performances consumed much of his spare time. A music scholarship from the University of Arizona was wasted when he dropped out of High School as a Junior and joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17.
Teaching himself how to play the guitar was a goal of a six-month tour in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Having had one year of piano lessons, he says he chose the guitar over the piano because the piano wasn’t very portable – “the handle kept pulling out of the top.”
God has been pleased to finally give him the “new song” he has been praying for after having read Psalm 33:1-3. Unable to play “a harp of ten strings,” he uses the six sting guitar instead.
Dan’s music explores evangelism, worship, praise, thanksgiving and the struggles and trials of the Christian life.
