Album Notes
So what's the Dan Granero story?

Put simply, it's the tale of a man with a passion for the Blues and the limitless potential of the Fender Stratocaster guitar.

It is also the story of a man who 'can't stand to lose' and who puts his heart and soul into all aspects of his life and his music.

Dan Granero recorded this brand new record, "Can't Stand To Lose" on the 31st January 2009, at "The Oakglen Treehouse" on the Central Coast of New South Wales - Australia with legendary producer/engineer, Dave Scotland. This album intentionally captures the raw energy of the live sessions featuring two of Dan's dearest friends and highly respected musicians; Lawrence Gambale on bass and Michael Williams on drums with minimal production and no overdubs.

As Dan says: “It’s a very honest record, faults and all, that to me builds a strong foundation. I’ve recorded things in the past with lots and lots of production that I think were a bit over the top for me. The layers of vocals and keyboards on those recordings didn't really showcase me as the guitar player that I am, or accurately show what my rockin’ three-piece band does when we play live.”

Armed with "Coco", his beloved stock-standard original 1979 Fender Stratocaster, a Cry Baby Wah Wah, T-Rex and Boss overdrive stompboxes, Dan pushes his Orange half stack amplifier to the limit (and beyond) in the pursuit of his own unique guitar sound.

These nine original tracks recorded on this album are a mix of old and new songs. Some were written in the past few years and reinterpreted for this studio album. Others were written during the several months Dan was on the road touring Scandinavia in 2008.

"Can't Stand To Lose" is a snapshot of Dan Granero in 2009.
It's a picture of a man passionately pursuing his musical vision.

Dan Granero, charismatic but shy. Magic on the fender guitar. He is a mystery man, designing his own style and genre as he goes. He is as comfortable sitting on a stool playing a little blues as he is singing a ballad that will give you goose pimples till tomorrow. Then he can rock your socks off in the next breath. He is a versatile and talented man who has no limits with his music. Is he rock? Is he blues? All we know is that we are hooked.

Dan's latest release called "Can't Stand To Lose" has something for everyone. Not only is he a gifted guitarist, but he will floor you when you hear his strong vocal style. It never ceases to amaze me when someone lures you in with an album, that you find yourself standing and shouting woohooo alone in your office. Yes, it's that good.

More than that though, his songwriting skills are exceptional on these tracks. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He writes solid lyrics which we can all relate to in our own lives. Now that takes skills.

The instrumentation on "Can't Stand To Lose" is exceedingly good. Production, recording and mastering is well done. The album design is a keeper for sure. All in all, a professional, polished looking job, to be sure. Certainly fitting for music of this caliber. Dan Granero Band has been Australia's best kept secret, but not for much longer.

The three tracks that thrilled me were:
1 - Drivin` South
This is a tasty little track that begins with a guitar solo. It moves into Dan Granero's sexy slow blues vocals. It's the kind of song that makes you close your eyes, doing a nice head sway. You know the kind of song I'm talkin` bout. This is blues the way it should be done. Simply Fabulous! Instrumentation is brilliant! Oh the guitar solo's! This track will leave you craving more. Definitely in the Granero Zone!

2 - Hey Hey
This is a song that will have you chair dancing in a New York Minute! Dan Granero nails the vocals with a gritty rock/blues style. The lyrics are solid and have a great hook. You will be singing along in no time. Another tasty treat from Dan Granero Band!

3 - My Baby
Oh lord, hold me back. This is a sexy jam. The sound of the guitar binds Dan Granero's sultry vocals to make this track a sure hit. It has all the makings of a time stamp. One of those songs you remember for years to come. It is well produced with exceptional instrumentation. Dim the lights , light the dance floor. Prepare to be blown away.

It was a difficult task to pick just 3 tracks from this album. All the tracks have a different feel and style. All amazing examples of experience and talent from this Australian Dream Band. Dan Granero, heart throb, a muso for the people and his band, far exceed any expectations any of us had. And if you think the album is terrific, wait till you see him live. Life is good because we have Dan Granero Band in it. Check Dan Granero Band out today. You won't be disappointed I assure you.

That's Just how I see it.

I know we don't usually do this but i had to add a few words regarding Dan Granero. This band is in my opinion, the epitome of what Blues Rock genre should be. I instantly fell head over heels for this album. We all know i'm a rock girl at heart and this album has definitely stolen it. It rocks like no one's business, then turns around, slows it down and gets downright sexy!

If your looking for an album you can play anytime, any place, anywhere... this is it!
Go and grab yourself a copy today, as a matter of fact...... RUN to get it!
That's my two cents worth.
