Danielle French is a nomadic singer/songwriter based out of Calgary, AB who has been writing, recording and performing for 20 years. Her music has been described as "beautiful strangeness”.

In 2012 Danielle was invited by creative director Pat mAcdonald (Grammy-nominated songwriter, formerly of the band Timbuk3- he wrote “The Future’s So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades”) to participate in a series of songwriting intensives at the Holiday Music Motel in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Three times a year dozens of songwriters of varying genres are housed at the Motel for a week at a time to co-write, record and perform together. Songwriters are paired through a random “spin-the-bottle” process, and this is where the magic happens…

Reflecting on some of the material she had co written over the years, a group of songs emerged that proved to be transformational for Danielle, inspiring her to conjure up her 2016 CD release: Danielle French Presents: Miss Scarlett & the Madmen~Dark Love Songs.

Maintaining the moody feel established on Dark Love Songs, and inspired by a dark television series that she was working on behind the scenes at the time, Danielle was drawn to write this dark, dirty song. Recorded at Studio D in Calgary, AB with co-producer Steve Dierkens, DIRTY features a "Gospel Choir" call and response, arranged by Danielle and performed by three vocalists layering their tracks in the studio, including singers Danielle French, Anne Weston (who sang live and in the studio with legendary Godfather of Soul- James Brown in the 80's) and Lisa Rouleau (of Calgary Choir Revv 52). DIRTY was mastered by Tom Gordon (who is currently working with Whitesnake, restoring early demo and rehearsal tapes for an upcoming 30 anniversary box set of the epic 1987 Whitesnake release).
