Album Notes
Combining bittersweet vocals, aching lyrics, and indelible melodies, with the tight instrumental and vocal harmony of her small ensemble, Danielle Knibbe and her trio are making their mark on the Canadian music scene. With upright bass, two guitars, and three-part harmony, their deftly crafted songs win, and then all too often, break your heart.

Born in Ontario and raised in Alberta, Danielle Knibbe blends memories of her childhood cross-country treks with her country, folk and roots-flavoured sound. The result is a truly Canadian take on love, loneliness, hope, anguish, innocence and innocence lost.

Now based in Toronto, Danielle performs at venues The Dakota Tavern, Lee's Palace, The Cameron House, and Burdock, and has opened for artists Colleen Brown, Del Barber, and Meaghan Smith. As writer and lead vocalist of Edmonton-based band, Marilla, she performed at The North Country Fair, The Blue Chair, and The Haven Social Club.

Her additional recording history includes her solo EP Every Last Wish (2013), and Edmonton band Marilla’s album Alright, here goes... (2012), produced/engineered by Chris Wynters and James Murdoch. She and Marilla composed the music and lyrics for Middleton: A Folk Musical, which premiered at the Edmonton Fringe Festival in 2012, and her songs have been performed by The Dungarees, and Mary Stewart.

In her three years in Toronto, Danielle has become entrenched in the music scene, recording and performing with such acts as James Burrows, Greg McEvoy, The Marwills, Rachael Cardiello and the Warm Electric Winter, and The Wind and Water.
