Album Notes
SALSA CHILL is a project in which DANILO GOSSAIN, Producer, Percussionist, Arranger and two-times Latin Grammy Nominee, fuses his previous experience with Chillout/Lounge music (Chillociraptor), and his greatest music passion: Salsa and tropical music. The result will make you want to dance, relax, and enjoy at the same time.

Danilo plays all percussions and guitars in this album, but his main signature is the use of five congas, introducing a more colorful, distinctive sound to his playing.

A must buy summer release that is highly recommended
The perfect time for a Salsa release is of course summer and here in the Mediterranean its simply perfect timing, long summer days, a roasting sun and a Salsa beat, with the Sangria flowing, sounds idyllic doesn’t it. Now you have the perfect soundtrack for any BBQ event, Salsa Chill by Danilo Gossain.
However the opening piece may surprise you and it is the old Beatles classic Come Together. Gossain though is a master arranger and producer and when he adds his talents on percussion to the stunning voice of Natalie Jean and a wonderfully powerful horn section, the song is sealed as a moment of divine Salsa experience indeed.
Swiftly we fly to track two entitled Lily, which was written for his wife. Less dramatic and more emotive than the previous composition maybe, but it still retains a wonderful Latin grove that is as smooth as the summer is long. The flute here is provided by Daniel Lopez and partnered with the percussion of Gossain creates a track with a sumptuous sun kissed feel. The break to a whole new percussive and rhythmic level at around the two minute mark will guarantee to have you dancing in the streets.
On Amo Lo Que Soy is up next and a love song written by the artist, but if my Spanish, which is patchy at best, is close, I think this loosely means, I love what I am. So in some ways this is a celebration of life. The brass section here is very special and with the vocals provides us with a truly happy song to drift with, whilst retaining a 100% Salsa all the way.
The penultimate offering on the album is called Over the Clouds, now whilst listening to this delightful opus, it took me right back to the early part of the century and the Buddha experience albums of the then vibrant Chill Out genre. Thankfully that genre is making its way back into the coffee shops and restaurants here in Cyprus and it would be perfect to hear this very song being part of the playlist of the day, it certainly is the ultimate chill out song from the release.
The last offering on the album is called Tropical Flavours and is probably the cleverest piece off the release as well, one that floats across the sun kissed quarters of the world with a jazzy ease, a track with a true funky beat, with a little African flavour added for good measure, this is one of those pieces that you will really want to listen to again and also note the change of beat just over the half way mark, clever indeed and beautifully performed and arranged.
Salsa Chill from Danilo Gossain is a fun and chilled work that all should be able to enjoy through their summer days and nights. This is a collection of vibrant exciting arrangements that will add a wide range of musical colour to your day where ever you are from, the only complaint I have is that I wished the album had been longer; still there is always the repeat button. Salsa Chill from Danilo Gossain will brighten up your day with its up-tempo happy refrain and its blissfully smooth productions, this is a must buy summer release and thoroughly recommended.
