Chaos, Destruction & Dancing

Propelled by the buzz surrounding the bass and synth-driven lead single for “Parallel Universe,” Miraldi’s new full-length album goes beyond the retro-flavored power-pop and gritty rock that first brought him success and blends in elements of indie-pop.

Album Notes
New York, NY – Having relocated to New York City last fall, Cleveland-born rocker Dan Miraldi is back with an exciting new album Chaos, Destruction & Dancing. Propelled by the buzz surrounding the bass and synth-driven lead single for “Parallel Universe,” the new full-length album expands beyond the retro-flavored power-pop and gritty rock and roll that first brought him success and blends in modern elements of indie-pop.

“It’s called Chaos, Destruction & Dancing because it was recorded during a period of transition,” states Miraldi, “I was leaving my beloved home of Cleveland to come to New York City. Some relationships were falling apart as new ones were born, but the music kept me centered and as always, the party continues.” For this project, Miraldi chose to work with two different producers, Grammy-nominee Dave Douglas (Relient K) and Steven Beller. “Both producers challenged me in different ways,” Miraldi explains, “Dave, who produced my last full-length, Sugar & Adrenaline, pushed me as a vocalist. He was drawn to my demos where my vocal delivery was distinctive or different from what I had done in the past. Steven encouraged me to embrace a more modern sound and production style,” adding that, “My songs came from the same place that they always have. They are just presented in a new way.”

Although delivering a healthy supply of pop-rock love songs, Chaos, Destruction & Dancing showcases Miraldi’s versatility as a songwriter and lyricist. Beneath the beautiful Americana-pop of “Junkie Friend” lies a story of a friend lost to heroin. “Parallel Universe” delves into the idea of alternate realities and the road not taken in love and loss. Meanwhile, “Put Your Pistols Away” conjures up imagery of the old American West and questions the cost of violence. In the midst of this chaos, Miraldi has made something bold and miraculously cohesive. “I like to think that this album will be accessible to fans of Sugar & Adrenaline and Devil At Our Heels, but I did not repeat myself. This album has its own distinct sonic texture and can’t wait for people to hear it.”
