Album Notes
Danny Morris and the California Stars play country music. Not that new stuff they try to pass off as country - they play the good kind.
The band is heavily influenced by Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson. But don't mistake them for neo-traditionalists playing dress-up in fancy hats and cowboy boots - they also bring a healthy dose of rock and roll to the party, citing such diverse influences as The Band, Wilco, Whiskeytown, Sturgill Simpson, Robbie Fulks, and The Replacements. The result is a mix of classic country songs and rocking originals with a focus on the country music triumvirate - drinking, heartache, and murder.
