Album Notes
Dan Cahn’s compositions reflect the musical soundscape that surrounds him in his homeland – Israel. These include Middle Eastern and Latin flavors as well as the blues. The title composition Toreadore, which is another name for the Spanish matador (though usually written without the ‘e’ at the end), started out with the famous Spanish bullring motif and from there evolved to a story within itself.
Dan who graduated in Jazz Performance Studies (on piano) at the University of North Texas (1994), returned to Israel and has since performed and recorded with several groups. On this recording he performs with two outstanding musicians - Valerie Lipets on bass, and Dani Benedikt on drums. At the time of this recording the three musicians had been working and performing together for two years. The musical interpretations captured on this recording reflect the intimacy and bond that exist between these three players.
