astonishing CD
I wanted to write to you to thank you for the astonishing CD you’ve created. I was just about to pop it in the player (for the 57th time) to give it another listen and I thought I’d let you know how much I’m enjoying it.

At first I wasn’t sure what I thought about re-recording some of your tunes off your bone by bone CD since I was and am very attached to that CD and it almost felt to me like messing with perfection, but now I’ve come to realize that it wasn’t so much trying to outdo what you had already done but instead to present those songs in a new paradigm and now I’m hooked. I think this recording of San Francisco is truly deep and heartfelt. There are moments in this song where your voice is so relaxed, deep, and soulful that I feel my whole body dropping right through the floor. This is an achievement that few artists ever reach.

Run to You is a perfect way to start the CD and is very well produced and performed, Kisses and Milk is simply warm and sweet, like a big blanket in front of a fireplace. One of my favorites for the newer songs is Who Else Will. I just like everything about it. It wraps around my brain so pleasantly and makes me feel so good inside. Fishing is simply a brilliant song. Perfection from every angle. I liked it on bone by bone and I like it again on this CD. All This Time is a beautifully reflective song like a good movie that makes you think afterward. Excalibur again, a masterpiece, one of my favorites. Like a Rembrandt. Loneliest Lifetime may be the best of the newer songs, although it’s a close call all around. Catch me on another day and I may change my mind, but I love the subject and I love the sensitive way you wrote it. You took a difficult feeling and made it beautiful. Rockstar is a fun happy way to “interlude” the CD and I’m glad you put it in. Not the kind of song I normally listen to but I fully appreciate it and enjoy hearing that side of you.

The production on this CD is absolutely masterful. Like a fine point on an oil brush you painted in every detail with perfection. I can only imagine the painstaking hours you spent making decisions here and there to make sure this was the best of the best and I feel it paid off. Every listen I like this CD more and more and more, it ages gracefully like a fine wine.

I hope my thoughts here were able to express to some degree how much I like what you’ve done here. I feel my thoughts probably fall short a little but just be assured that this is one of my favorite all time CD’s and you should feel very proud.
