ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Following up on his 2006 album “Content With Obscurity” was never going to be an easy feat, but Darin Dunn has done it. “Dare to Die” is full of pop/rock goodness complete with melodies and hooks you’ll be singing long after the disk stops spinning! The album begins with a montage of hits from his last album and then launches into the first track, “I’m Ready.” “During the process of this album God called me to fulltime ministry in Thailand. This was a process that took over a year and these songs came from that process,” said Dunn. “Christ died so that we might live. He dared to die and in doing so gave life to all who believe in him. That’s what this album is all about, taking that life and living for what He has called you.” said Dunn. The album begins with a decidedly pop/rock feel with an electric edge and moves into an acoustic groove. Dunn once again writes 8 of the 10 tracks while playing 80% of the instruments himself. Wisely, he has once again brought in the talents of Darin Cabell on electric guitar, Jackie Turner on Violin and Wendy Semones on Piano. “I would say that this album ended up being Jewel meets Sheryl Crow meets Steven Curtis Chapman,” said Dunn. Songs like “Only The Best,” which was written in the islands of Thailand, and “Trying to Make Her Stay” show Dunn’s acoustic roots while other tracks such as “Thank You” and “And Then I See You” show a more electric version of the Dunn sound we have come to know. He even ventures into some blues sounds with “Manipulator” and explores some R&B type beats and vocals on “Without You,” a song layered with classic electric licks from the guitar of Darin Cabell. Jackie Turner’s orchestral arrangement on “Trying to Make Her Stay” is the perfect lead in to the final cut on the album, the epic song “The War.” Written by his brother Jonathan Dunn, “The War” is the perfect ending to this album. Featuring the Piano and string arrangement of Wendy Semones, the song is a poignant look at spiritual warfare and how Christ remains victorious in all of our pain. The bottom line is that there isn’t any filler on this album. Instead it’s packed with song after song that has hit potential.

I"m Ready
This song truly spoke to my heart. I heard it today for the first time. The Lord is taking me in a different direction. He really did'nt give me much notice, but then again He did'nt have to, it's o.k. He knows best. Thanks again Darin for sharing from your heart and life. I appreciate you very much. I simply love your voice! It's soft and natural and you sing from your heart. I can hear so many truths in your songs. I'm so proud of you! Praise God! Love, Rosalinda
