Album Notes
Following on one year from the "Stargazer" album comes the new album Approaching Hyperspace. The style picks up from the previous album and then develops into a much deeper blending of blinding synths and guitars to form complex patterns that will send you off to new experiences of spacey delight.
Darkstarcruiser has created 10 new tracks here that are even better produced than "Stargazer". Listening through a good set of headphones turned up loud is thoroughly recommended or down low late at night for chilling out. This album rocks but also has appeal for ambient listening.
The album has been made completely with hardware synths and for the most part the overdubs are played in live giving the album a much more organic feel than the usual sequenced electronic works.
Darkstarcruiser has spent many years perfecting techniques of using hardware arpeggiators and live synth parts and blending guitars into the mix seamlessly which is no easy task.
So to sum up here is a brand new album of all new material that exceeds the previous one and takes Space Rock and Psychedelic Rock into the future.

Enjoy and have a safe trip into the unknown reaches of your own inner universe !!!!

New Mental Territories
Obviously the product of a fertile imagination! Space, as we experience it in books, fantasy art and the movies, has many moods; awe-inspiring, frightening, challenging, mysterious, cold and lonely, beautiful etc. This latest offering from one-man trancemeister turned space rocker Darkstarcruiser explores all those moods and more. Musically, if the first outing Star Gazer took its orientation from Hawkwind then Approaching Hyperspace takes Ozric Tentacles as the pole star – the synths, beautifully played and recorded, are more varied and more prominent in the mix than before, though there is still plenty of the trademark reverb drenched guitar work on offer. The title track bridges common ground between the two CDs but after that the terrain is more multi-textured and atmospheric, the Persian dulcimer of Eye of Horus and the Japan/Bowie/Bebop Deluxe plonkings on World of Waves being particularly impressive. After the sheer lunacy of Darkstar Mindwarp, which is almost dubbed up to the nth degree, the album gently deposits us back on terra firma with the thoughtful and gentle guitar showcase Gliding Back to Earth. Ideally one would listen to this in that howling vacuum between the worlds but for most of us a dark room will have to suffice! Enjoy.
