ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Datura Road assimilates aspects of various musical cultures into their sound, creating an experience that breaks away from the ordinary.

The most obvious way we do this is through our instrumentation. Another way we do this is by emulating music cultures that penetrate the age barrier. The core four members of Datura Road span an age range of nearly fifty years. This is common in countries like Ireland and India but is not as normal in the United States.

We also collaborate with musicians who specialize in different genres. Each musician we work with has a unique voice that gets woven into our music. This includes Allen Murphy's (bass) experience as a bebop jazz musician, Tim Allen's(clarinet) study of Balkan folk music, Pablo Shine's South American and Caribbean conga playing, and Grammy winning Steve Gorn's (bansuri flute) lifelong dedication to Indian classical music.
