ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Cardboard Vegas Roundabout is Dave Caruso's latest tour de force and the followup to his 2004 release, Elizabeth Parker. The 10-song album packs an alt-pop power punch, along with some jangly pop, lushly orchestrated symphonic rock, summer sunshine pop, a rockin' lullabye, some pop soul, and an uplifting gospel eulogy. It's just the kind of smart, melodic songwriting you've come to expect from Dave Caruso, exploring topics of love, loss, friendship, identity, home, and the perils of social media, with signposts to Elvis Costello, David Bowie, R.E.M., Brian Wilson, The Beatles, The Hollies and Johannes Brahms. Dave wrote, arranged, produced, sang a ton of vocals, and played most of the instruments.

This download-only version has 10 songs. The special, 2-CD Deluxe Edition contains 12 additional bonus tracks which include alternate versions, special mixes and demos, offering a revealing glimpse into the writing and recording process.

"I found the first jewel of the year: Dave Caruso's 'Champion.' Highly tuneful. Like eating frosting straight from the jar. Splattered throughout the song are Beach-Boys harmonies – even the “ba, ba ba ba” that the Beach Boys were known for and a high-pitched “wooo” that would make Brian Wilson swoon. Caruso has a knack for melody and harmony."
--Peter Lee / Hooks & Harmony

"Caruso lays down some of the most complex vocal arrangements of the year, and succeeds over-and-over again. Tasty songcraft."
--Jeffrey Raskin / Host, The Big Show & Program Dir., Pop That Goes Crunch

"Magnificent sound. Lovely, melodic songs. Crafted with care. Sharp musicianship and gorgeous, multi-part harmonies."
--Alan Haber / PurePop Radio

"Dave Caruso is a primo purveyor of elegantly crafted sunshine pop. Fresh and ultra-listenable. Pitch-perfect vocal arrangements and songs with flowing melodies.
--John Borack / Goldmine Magazine
