Album Notes

"A big old growl, some two fisted pianistics, and you’ve got a bump-‘n-grind social music that accounts for Albert Ammons and Lowell George.” (The Village Voice)

Keyesland Records proudly announces the release of keyboardist/singer/ songwriter DAVE KEYES' THE HEALING on Oct. 16th, 2017.

THE HEALING, is a diverse set of 9 original songs plus 2 covers of classics by Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Robert Johnson, that ranges from driving shuffles and rollicking boogie, to Bo Diddley beats, soulful R&B, gospel, contemporary blues and solo rockin’ piano. The album features a who’s who of special guests that Dave works with regularly such as Popa Chubby, Rob Paparozzi, Vaneese Thomas, Arthur Neilson ( Shemekia Copeland) and Alexis P. Suter. The Healing is anchored by Dave’s long time drummer drummer Frank Pagano, (Jon Herrington, Darlene Love) and bassist David J. Keyes (Willy DeVille). Very special guests are the 30 piece Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir on Dave’s gospel tinged “Faith Grace Love and Forgiveness.”

Dave is a recent nominee of the Blues Foundation’s Pinetop Perkins Award, a past winner of the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Competition, and his Festival appearances include King Biscuit, 3 appearances at Cognac France Blues Fest, Lugano Switzerland’s Blues to Bop Fest and featured solo perfomances on the Legendary Blues Cruise & Queen City Blues Fest’s Arches solo piano stage among many others.

Keyes in addition to his band, performs regularly with Popa Chubby, Ronnie Spector, Slam Allen and Alexis P. Suter, and played for years with the late Odetta, gospel legend Marie Knight, Bo Diddley, Sleepy LaBeef, and David Johansen. Dave was also the conductor for the Broadway production of "Smokey Joe’s Cafe", featuring the music of Leiber & Stoller and sings and plays on the show’s Grammy Award winning soundtrack album. His band was the house band for the national TV morning variety show "The Ainsley Harriott Show" seen on NBC weekdays.

“Dave Keyes has a rolling piano style and he sings in a fine form… arrangements sure to please fans of roots rock and boogie.” (Living Blues Magazine)

“Down-home quadruple threat with rollicking piano solos and soul rocking B-3. Dave is a class act.” (Keyboard Magazine) www.davekeyes.com
