Album Notes
David started his musical journey in a band called Winchester. His earliest influences were Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, which changed David’s musical direction forever. David also grew up listening intently to Irish fiddle and bluegrass, with artists such as Doc Watson, Tony Rice and John Hartford.
Years down the road after a Jerry Douglas workshop, David was mesmerized by the resophonic guitar, learned to play and delved into writing all original songs. After many years of playing the resophonic guitar, David rediscovered his love for acoustic guitar and also learned mandolin, again writing all his own original music, which brought him to this first solo project, Along the Backroad.
These seven songs are a reflection of a lifelong journey in acoustic music with a variety of vocal and instrumental compositions. During the writing process of Along the Backroad, each artist had the opportunity to craft their own musical contributions with the freedom to create their own voice.
David had the honor of working with engineer/producer Steve Sleeper at Blind Corner Records, along with JD Williams on violin; Ron Olk on piano; Steve Sleeper on bass; Chris Dombrowski on bass; J. Smith on bass and drums, Conner Simpson on percussion and backup vocals by Carol Simpson, Laurie Mazzamurro and Isabella Grenier.
