Living Like Strangers - Dave Mell Blues Band
The newly released CD by the Dave Mell Blues Band, Living Like Strangers, is such a pleasure to listen to. I love the blues and listening to this CD made me smile with its great choice of songs from the blues genre and classic rock. The best was the four original songs by Dave and Ellen Mell which are a joy to listen to. Living Like Strangers is a song which really touches on the lack of communication among people in today's world. The vocals are lush and full with both Dave and Ellen Mell doing the lead vocals. The guitar is sharp and precise with its bluesy feel that Dave Mell always brings to the forefront. The keyboards, bass, harps and percussion show how the musicians in this band are so talented and always spot on with itheir rich tones and great beats. The Dave Mell Blue Band is a top notch professional group and very talented. This new CD is worth buying as it will give you a ton of entertainment. If you like the blues and classic rock, you will want to settle into your comfortable chair, put on this CD, have a drink of your choice in hand, with the lights down low and escape with the Dave Mell Blues Band.

# 3 and still a fine arraignment
This is the 3rd installment of the ever talented singer songwriter Dave Mell and his band of top notch musicians. Still sounding as fresh and original as the 1st CD....Looking to future CD's from this fine arranger

3rd time's the Charm
"Living Like Strangers" is the 3rd CD by the Dave Mell Blues band and it does not disappoint. As the band name promises you get an earful of Blues when you hit the play button. This is the kind of music that makes you yearn for a longer commute! Whether it is the Blues harp on "Long Grey Mare" the standout vocal on "It Hurts Me Too," or the acoustic guitar on "Living Like Stranger", this CD offers the Rock N Blues fan a broad variety of textures that makes the listener look forward to the next track. It is the kind of music that independent record labels used to make before the corporatization limited music choices. If you are a fan of Rock N' Blues you owe it to yourself to add this 3rd volume of the Dave Mell Blues Band to your regular record rotation. Don't be self-conscious about the smile forming as you fire it up, this band has a habit of doing that. I'm sure you'll agree that the 3rd time's the charm when it comes to "Living Like Strangers" the 3rd CD in the Dave Mell Blues Band canon.

Smokin' solos and Bodacious Blues!
I had the pleasure of seeing Dave, Ellen and their great band in concert and knew that this CD would be the perfect music for an upcoming long drive. Kept me awake, entertained and singing along, even to the catchy originals. You can always count on the Dave Mell Blues band for musicality, creativity, and this CD is full of great music for your party, car ride or to keep a smile on your face while doing work around the house. Love it!

Living Like Strangers
"Living Like Strangers" by The Dave Mell Blues Band is an excellent and talented piece of work by one of the finest local, original bands; it impressed me to no end! A mix of covers and oroginal songs, this CD will stimulate your admiration for music.... splendid vocalists plus skilled musicians resulted in an incredible piece of work not to mention sound engineering at it's finest! A lot of thought and emotion went into the writing of "Burning in my Heart" and the title track "Living Like Strangers".... in addition to their "Hand Crafted" songs, my favorites included "Don't Take Advantage of Me" and "Come Home". I would suggest to any music lover to give this CD a try.... it is sure to arouse your admiration for music! Yes, this review is "dripping with praise".... but in all honesty, well deserved Dave Mell Blues Band !

Dave Mell's newest release 'living like strangers'
Admittedly, i'm no stranger to Dave Mell. he's been making me feel inadequate on the old guitar box for years now and I enjoy it every time. His latest release shows a growth and level of restraint that's refreshing in these days of more, more, more. The title track is gorgeous, the acoustic guitar is warm and inviting, and the track builds wonderfully as Dave's voice, organ sounds, harmonics, and Ellen's harmonies merge together into a solid composition that doesn't get in the way of this very well-written original tune. I can't say enough about that tune, it's just great.

Moving on, the album takes us on a most enjoyable romp through the years and the idiosyncrasies of blues guitar greats through Dave and his cohorts' fingers and probably a ton of cool vintage gear. So many great tones on this record! Other standouts for me are the down and dirty rendition of 'Lady Madonna', that was very welcomed, if a bit unexpected, and 'Tonight I'll be staying here with you', which has some gloriously spanky guitar tones on it. I could go on and on about this record, but just listen for yourself. Great song selections, well-recorded and arranged, and deftly performed. I'll be listening regularly while I await the next release, and i'll keep my fingers crossed for more original tunes, wink-wink.

Living Like Strangers - Dave Mell Blues Band
Another nice CD by Dave Mell. This one has a great mix of classic songs with some original compositions. Dave's guitar work gets more refined with each CD he releases. His band lays down a nice grove for his guitar licks to guide through. On top of this foundation is the strong and powerful vocals of Ellen Mell who, controls the melody like the great maestro she is. Overall just a great CD to grove to.

Living Like Strangers
I’ve had the pleasure of listening to The Dave Mell Blues Band’s recently released CD “Living Like Strangers” it is an outstanding Blues compilation of perfection with original songs “Burning in My Heart”, “Oh Pretty Baby”, “Mr. Right”, and the title song “Living Like Strangers” one of my favorites.
The arrangement is a precise performance of instrumentals, Blues harp, & vocals
that complement the songs from the original artists as well as the songs written and performed by The Dave Mell Blues Band.
I’ve had an admiration for Dave’s remarkable ability on the guitar since the very first opportunity to hear the Dave Mell Blues band play, what an amazing artist I thought.
Then, the more I watched & listened to the band perform the more I recognized and began to grasp the full extent of expertise each member of the band has, they are all truly distinguished musicians with the versatility to perform decades of Blues & Rock and to roll from Blues to Rock without missing a beat.
If you appreciate great music you will not be disappointed with “Living Like Strangers” as a new addition to your collection.

Living Like Strangers by dave Mell Blues Band
This new release by Dave & his band is the definition of "feel good music". From the upbeat clever versions of Motown hits to the hard driving blues guitar riffs, & the band's extremely catchy & memorable original songs, there is truly something here for everyone to enjoy no matter what you musical tastes are. As a musician myself, I listen to everything within a song, vocals, instrumentation, creativity, etc. & I must say that this CD has it all! My wife's favorite song is the title track "Living Like Strangers". From the very first time she heard the song, she has been singing it ever since, & as I say to her, "anytime you hear a song only once & you keep on singing it, that is a true sign of a hit". Check out this CD & you won't be disappointed, & make sure you go out & see the band live if you have the opportunity, always a good time, Dave & the band always tear it up!
