Songs for Singing

by Dave Siverns

An EP that set out to be songs that would serve the church in congregational worship - songs that are singable, playable and full of truth. Musically compelling, it's a great blend of pop, rock and folk.

Album Notes
There's a lot of great music out there these days. Lots of it is 'worship' music, but anyone who's served as a worship leader knows how hard it can be to find songs that speak well to the congregation, are theologically sound, musically compelling and simple enough to be sung by a diverse church (or churches!). That's why I wrote these songs, many with my good friends Ben Reynolds and Jason Germain down in Nashville. After doing lots of home recording, songwriting for many years and playing and touring with a group out of Briercrest College in Saskatchewan called Elevate, I have now served as a worship and young adults pastor in Lethbridge, AB for more than 4 years. Leading worship every week for a congregation (or a few) is a different challenge than playing one off gigs and weekend retreats - it requires a different type of commitment and understanding of your specific church culture, but it is so rewarding when it goes well.

After considering my options and going through my back catalogues of songs, I decided it was time for a fresh set of songs that were purposeful and new. After being in touch with Ben and Jason, I put together an Indiegogo campaign and raised the funds necessary to help me go down to Nashville to record these songs. The quality of production is evident - while I may be a small indie artist, that arrangements, sounds and mixes are the quality of any professional record. I'm very proud of the final product.

I hope these songs can serve you as well as they have served me and my church. If you'd like charts or have any questions, please be in touch!
