ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Once declared by Bob Dylan as one of his favourite Australian artists, Dave Warner began recording in the late 70s in a style that blended New Wave with rock and satire with a heavily Australian identity, a kind of Lou Reed meets Frank Zappa meets Ian Dury. Warner was `punk' before the Sex Pistols with his band Pus based out of Perth in the early 70s. After folding Pus he began developing a wide-ranging original style of music he dubbed `Suburban Rock' . In the late 80s Warner stopped touring full time and while he continued to write and record music began writing plays and novels. A sports afficiando Warner has written several sports books, commentated Australian Rules football on radio and recorded numerous sporting songs. Dark Side of the Scrum was a novelty album recorded in the late 1980s satirising Australian Rugby League clubs and players.
