ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Dave Warner is probably the most unique Australian rock artist ever but you've likely never heard of the boy from Perth whom Bob Dylan declared his favourite Australian artist after The Rolling Thunder band caught Warner's act live in 1978. In the early 70s Warner formed Pus - a proto punk band well before the Sex Pistols. He then traveled to England to secure a recording deal but failing, returned to Perth mid-1976 to unleash what he called "suburban rock" a whole new style of rock that could swing from Lenny Bruce style profane monologues, to speed metal, to reflective ballads. The band rapidly scaled the heights, rarely supported by mainstream media but carried on a wave of word of mouth. With no coverage from FM radio Warner stopped playing full-time in the early 80s and began a career writing in many different media like stage and novels. These live tapes, recorded in Perth pubs on 8 track with no overdubs, show the originality and power of the band that featured the incredible Johnny Leopard, possibly the finest guitar showman since Hendrix.
