ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Having turned 60 sometime in the recent past, David used his rock passport renewal, that accrues to musicians who reach that milestone (remember when it happened to the Stones...awesome) to record his first album of vocal covers since 1999's Cures for St. Valentine's Blues. This record features some tunes he's been playin' for decades as well as a couple of recent rock "instant classics". And, oh yes, the title track, the first original song with lyrics he's written since the late 1970s. Co-written by Castillo Theatre Artistic Director Dan Friedman, Maladjusted debuted to rave reviews in the play Demonstration 2013.

Maladjusted is followed by Metric's Gimme Sympathy...which asks a philosophical question of great musical import: who would you rather be, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones? Couldn't resist...had to follow it up with a classic mid-60s tune from each. "Side One" closes with a Dylan gem. "Side Two" has songs from Dr. John, REM, Lucinda Williams and Tim Hardin, as well as a version of the first single off of Aimee Mann's 2012 CD Charmer.

There's lots of guitar playing on the record as David employs every guitar he owns...to go along with a generous helping of percussion. Some great playing by the current WindWater rhythm section of Gerry McCord and Arnie Wise, supplemented by cameos from Jon Burr, Michael Viscegiia and Premik Russell Tubbs. And the production team of Belmont and Michael Walsh pulled out all the stops, adding all manner of psychedelia to the tracks.

We had big fun makin' this one. Enjoy!
