Before David Burns was the guitarist/vocalist/songwriter for celebrated L.A. area Celtic/Bluegrass group Sligo Rags (regular Disneyland and touring performers), he was a lonely troubadour going from coffeehouse to coffeehouse playing solo acoustic guitar instrumentals. Recorded in the heyday of the "new acoustic music" explosion in the late eighties and early nineties, "Soledad" was inspired by the extraordinary acoustic guitarists that came out of that era--Michael Hedges, Alex De Grassi, John Renbourn, Leo Kottke--in hopes that it might get noticed by Wyndham Hill records or a similar label.
