ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
David Eaton Philbrick write-ups:

"A phenomenal performer, Philbrick's range, control and mastery of his instruments is remarkable."
Lynn Fuson, The Tampa Tribune-Times

"One of the hottest young flautists that I've heard in a Calgary nightclub-nay any nightclub...I haven't heard playing this good in a club for years. I can remember top-notch musicians such as Fraser McPherson and Carse Sneddon who used to blow great sounds in the Vancouver clubs during the mid-sixties, but I don't believe they could match young Philbrick. He scat vocalizes and blows flute simultaneously, in the style of Rahsaan Roland Kirk, and seems to hold power in reserve."
Brian Brennan, The Calgary Herald

"Philbrick is about the meanest wind-instrument wizard to draw a breath in Florida...(with) lilting, fire-possessed soloing."
Greg Tozian, The Tampa Tribune

"In the hands of an inspired flutist, the instrument becomes capable of producing the sweet, flowing sound which is the essence of music, a balm for a troubled mind. Last week we "discovered" flutist and musician extraordinaire Dave Philbrick at Monte's. His sound is pure freedom. It lilts and floats, swoops and soars, hovers and accelerates. Philbrick's flute is a vehicle for the mind to escape mundane trivialities. You don't need to be a jazz buff to enjoy Philbrick...You just need some time to relax. There is a definite pristine cleanliness that characterizes a flute in the hands of a master...and Philbrick is that, a master."
Randy Harrison, Orlando Sentinel Star

David Eaton Philbrick spent a year in Columbus, Ohio after graduating from Earlham College, playing flute with two jazz fusion bands, Oink Johnson and Spirit Feel before moving to Winter Park, Florida. He was a staff musician for Walt Disney World, performed and recorded with the Florida Sunshine Pops Orchestra and played with various show bands and jazz groups in the Orlando area. Before leaving Disney, he formed Tapaztry, a jazz-fusion quartet that was voted the #1 jazz-group in Central Florida by the readers of the Orlando Sentinel Star.

In addition to long running gigs in two of the premier jazz clubs in Central Florida (Valentyne's in Orlando and The Warehouse in Ybor City), Tapaztry played numerous jazz festivals including the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, the Cocoa Beach Jazz Fest and the Kool Jazz Festival in Orlando, Florida. David and Tapaztry opened concerts for Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Mann, Plas Johnson, Jack Sheldon, Livingston Taylor, Spyro Gyra and others as well as recording TV specials for PBS including "Sunshine Music Hall" and "Jazz on the Beach."

David currently resides in the Twin Cities area and is concentrating on writing and recording music that speaks to the heart and moves the soul.
