Album Notes
This album explores improvising on the Ajna Steel Handpan / Tongue Drums. It illustrates the ease in which one can use these instruments to compose within a certain notational grouping that each drum is tuned to. They can be played with hands or with mallets and excite magical harmonics from the singing metal. In the growing family of handpans and metal instruments this instrument has a unique voicing that is able to conjure dreamscapes upon the first touch. Each track is recorded as a first impression of that specific drum and note combination. They are all improvisations played by david macejka and first takes of the experience of playing that drum. The collection of melodies harkens to dreamy carnival settings and desolate metalscapes. Its a great tool for meditation and relaxation as well as a soundtrack to otherworldly winter settings.
