ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album explores improvising on multiple Ajna Steel Handpan / Tongue Drums. It illustrates the ease in which one can use these instruments to compose within a certain notational grouping that each drum is tuned to. They can be played together with hands or with mallets and excite magical harmonics from the singing metal. In the growing family of handpans, tongue drums and metal instruments, this instrument offers a unique voicing that is able to conjure dreamscapes upon the first touch. Each track is recorded as a first impression of that specific drum and note combination with an accompanying Ajna . They are all improvisations played by david macejka and first takes of the experience of playing that drum and adding some echos and reflections to some of the tracks.. This collection of melodies and soundscapes conjure echoes of other worldly settings, stone gardens, dark waters and stark stillness of untranslatable self reflectiveness.
