Album Notes
My name is David Manuel. I am a Christian folk, bluegrass, and Americana artist from Elon NC. Love Breaks the Chains is the first release from my upcoming album Wretch Like Me. This song speaks of how our Savior came in His unending love and payed the price for our sins so we could be set free from our chains. I'm excited about all of the songs on this album and I feel that Love Breaks the Chains embodies the style and message of the entire album.

In the spring of 2018 I began work on what would become  the album Wretch Like Me. These past few years have been a time of tremendous change and spiritual growth for me. I've seen triumph and tragedy, death and new life, and I've seen the good and the bad in people on full display. Through all of this The Lord has carried me through and I have seen him do amazing things in my life. At the start of 2019, The Lord began moving in my heart and giving me song after song. Before I could finish one song I would get the inspiration for another. By the spring I had most of this album written. So after a lot of thought and, more importantly, prayer I decided that I would release an album of original songs all written in this pivotal year of my life.

The genre has been hard for me to define, but I guess it would best be described as Christian Americana. I am a bluegrass picker at heart so there's plenty of banjo, and fiddle, but I wouldn't call it bluegrass. There's a strong Celtic feel on much of it as well as some moments that rock a little. There's mandolin, dobro, bouzouki, and bodhran, alongside drums, lap steel,  and electric guitars. It truly encompasses the wide range of styles that this long haired hillbilly has  played over the years. Love Breaks the Chains has a decidedly ancient Celtic/Appalachian feel that features dulcimer, bouzouki, and lap steel guitar. Accompanying me on this track is my friend David Florence on harmony vocals.

If you like Love Breaks the Chains, the complete album Wretch Like Me will be out shortly, and may God bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you.
