Album Notes
“Blue” is the culmination of the last decade as it caps off a very growing era and sets a precedent for the next. When my music career began over 20 years ago, I was very occupied with only the piano. All of my recordings were solo piano as it is my first love and always will be. However, as the years morphed by I felt inclinations to try different things. Ten years ago I was definitely not singing, but at the prompting of a restaurant owner I simply started. I have worked really hard to develop my vocals that are unique to me. I also play trombone. So I started implementing this odd instrument in my performance. It brings all kinds of attention, mainly because you never see or hear one any more. I have a deep passion for instrumental music but I also love singing with my acoustic guitar. I compose my own music and I write my own songs, but I also really like covering great tunes and arranging them into my own style. In a sense I have evolved into my own ensemble. I have covered all of these facets in this CD. Clocked at 79:35, I carefully ordered the tracks to tell a story of mystery, simplicity, adventure, romance, complexity, quietness and sophistication.
To me, blue evokes emotions of optimism, mystique and somberness while running under bright skies of blue or staring into placid deep blue pools of water, just like my wife’s blue eyes.
Contentment and peace,
David Paul Pfleger
