Album Notes
On some tracks, David plays solo or has overdubbed all the acoustic guitar parts; on others, he is joined by fellow acoustic guitarists Kevin Tiernan and Ioannis Markoulakis, members of his guitar ensemble. Other tracks also feature cellist/viola da gambist Leif Woodward, bassist Steve Anderson, and percussionist Christopher Garcia. When brought together with multiple guitars, these players weave a gentle yet potent energy into David’s compositions. The result is an ethereal melodic tapestry that takes the listener on an ambient, emotive musical journey. David’s jazz-fusion roots inform many of the pieces on Among the Missing. He began his career playing with Gary Burton and then went on to record two albums for Inner City records which also featured Patrice Rushen and Freddie Hubbard. He shifted his focus to acoustic guitar with his 1990 release Air Patterns. His previous release, Vertical Eden, was described in Audiophile Audition as “...transformative.”
