Album Notes
This latest work from dbdb, their third, is a love letter and a boot in the backside to all who feel a hollow spot in their existence. Each of these songs focuses on a wanting in life, death, work, play, religion, politics, relationships, and/or community. Stories are told by an unusual cast of characters, all of them at or over the edge:

* A paranoid business exec digs an impromptu bomb shelter during a breakdown.

* An obnoxious amateur evangelist is abandoned on a desert island by his fed-up friends.

* A restless factory worker hears a new rhythm calling in the clicking machines and dances out the door forever.

* A barefoot wild child, drunk on new summer moonlight, wanders happily off for eternity.

From the opening fade-in to the final chord, you will find yourself challenged, tickled, inspired and rocked. A clever turn of phrase will pin a too-true thought for the day to your cranium. An oddly melodic guitar line will camp in your ear for hours. The rhythm section will have your feet demanding movement.

dbdb started as an odd experiment in an offbeat, wide open UCC church in West Bloomfield, NY. A loose amalgamation of seasoned talent from regionally popular bands like Slipton Fell, Dr. Zoo, Black-Eyed Rosey, Blue Jimmy, Dirt Child and the Boiler Room Blues Project, their current lineup has been together for six years, and has spilled back out into the region, gaining a reputation for drawing an unusual crowd and instigating a positive kind of trouble wherever they go. They are known for vocal harmonic convergence, fire-code-violating fretwork, and a perfectly tight bump and thump.

On Awakening, dbdb might make you smile, probably make you dance, and definitely make you think. You need to listen to this stuff.
