ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
d. benway's debut album, songs at room temperature, is a patchwork collage of sonic self-portraiture. Twenty-one intimate pieces, some detailed enough to reveal every pixel, dot and stroke, others oceanic enough to completely immerse yourself in. Hard to categorize, this collection spans the spectrum from Pete Townshend's vulnerable bluster to the heart-wrenching naïvete of Daniel Johnston (who contributed the cover art). Repeated spins are necessary to fully chart the geography of benway's troubled psyche and his ultimate transcendence of its boundaries. A tremendous release in every sense of the word.

ethereal, sincere acoustic and experimental
I think Benway is a very honest musician, not afraid to show his vulnerable side while remaining unpretentious. Remember '79 has a Pink Floyd dreamy quality and his voice is very much at home here, Floating in Space has a Brit essence. His sense of melodic phrasing on the acoustic songs is very ethereal and beautiful. It reminds me of a rainy day, riding down a country backroad, staring at the world going by.

manic-depresion blues
benway's voice & some of his songwritng here a cross between syd barrett & john lennon. though much more raw. honest gut-level lyricism. eclectic batch of songs. been listening to it alot. yes.
