Album Notes
Love & Death is the brand new album by progressive Mock/Rock band Deaths Jest. It’s a lovely little album to blast the waxworks out of your head and the cobwebs out of your soul. It’s the Marquis De Sade with a hard on, it’s a ghoul with a gibbie and I don’t mean a Bee Gee! More like a Hee-Bee-Gee-Bee! It’s the ice-cold soundtrack to a Harpy Halloween! It’ll send shivers down your soul and set your foetus tap dancing in the fires of Hell. It’s everything that’s been missing in Rock since Frankenstein ditched the ukulele - it’s Death you can dance to and it’s all yours for a few measly dollars! So if your tired of the X Factor then get with the Sex Factor - Deaths Jest/Love & Death. But hey (ho) who are these guys we don’t know them from Adam and Eve-ette. Well Deaths Jest are, Legend - vocals and various instruments, Hilrant - lead vocals and various instruments. We hail from Caerphilly in the UK and like all heroes we are much taller and far more exciting in real life than on CD or in print. Our hobbies include booze, sex, money, horror flicks and anything weird and wonder filled, oh and rockin’ to the max! Our music may come under the banner Progressive Mock/Rock - though as a rule (TEAR EM’ UP!), we hate pigeon holes. Tho’ pigeons are pretty cool because they’re head banging all the time. But where did it all begin? Well I guess where fate stepped in - Hilrant and Legend met up at work thanks to Legends mom I guess she thought they were of a similar insanity? They found they had a lot in common. At this moment in time Legend was starting up a band called Needle Wine, previous to this he’d been with a band called Endorphin and he’d also written a lot of solo material and has been playing guitar for seven years. Yeah so Hilrant was recording his umpteenth solo album at home. We (Legend and I) always talked about a collaboration one day though I don’t think we ever thought we’d really get around to it. We were both creating two entirely different types of music in our own little worlds and enjoying it. Anyway Needle Wine broke up and so we got together for a jam and to see what, if anything would happen and to see if we could make an album together. Though it was never on the cards to be a full time project. Hilrant - Well I’d been in a few bands before Blue Movie (Rock), Sweatleaf (Heavy Rock ), Buzz and The B Days (New Wave /Rock) and Strange Kettle Of Fish ( Psychedelic Folk/Rock ). Though for all the above I went under the name Buzz Earwig (which believe you me is a story in its self ). From the very first song we wrote it become blatantly obvious that not only could we write songs together but that we really should write songs together. Every time we get together something quite mad and magical happens and it’s always a lot of fun. Every album takes us in a slightly different direction, on another mad/venture to God knows where. Our albums to date are, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Grave (Aug 2006), The Vermin Of Society/Scum City Rots - a double disc (June 2007), and of course our latest Love & Death (Jan 2008). A new acoustic album is in the pipeline, and we’re hoping to get an acoustic set of songs together for some live

There are some great riffs on this album, some real grungey guitar sounds, that i expect sound great at a good sized venue. there are many clever lyrics, very funny some of them. i would like to see this lot live they sound very energetic.
