ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Deborah Berg is a New York City-based performing songwriter and teacher whose distinctive crystal clear voice, songwriting talents, and warm teaching style characterize her 30-year musical career. She is proud to be an official Martin Guitar and Sennheiser endorsed artist.

Recorded at Grand Street Recording (Brooklyn, NY) with producer Ken Rich and mastered at Sterling Sound (New York, NY), "New Road Home" is Deborah Berg's third solo album and sixth album to date, including her work with Julian Marshall as the band Eye to Eye.

Easygoing and intimate, “New Road Home” evokes a road trip through the mountains to both parts unknown and familiar milestones. With her luscious lyrics, satisfying storytelling, and signature crystal clear voice, Deborah Berg creates classic country songs with plaintive bluegrass echoes.

Deborah's band on this album comprises the immense talents of Charlie Giordano (accordion and keys), Richard Hammond (upright bass), Chris Tedesco (violin), Hugh Pool (vocals and dobro), Sherryl Marshall and Stephanie Seymour (backing vocals), Monica Passin (guitar), Ethan Eubanks (drums), and Rich Hinman (electric and acoustic guitar).

In 2012, her single, "Goin' Nowhere," played on over 87 terrestrial radio stations, and Deborah was a featured ARTIST TO WATCH on iHeartRadio NEW! Discover & Uncover (through Clear Channel).

Since 2013, Deborah has been leading singing workshops for seniors in Manhattan through the "Feel the Music! Creative Aging" program.

She also sings in the Middle Church Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir, directed by John Del Cueto. She sang a featured solo with the choir in the Christmas Eve Special, "A Bold New Love: Christmas Eve with Middle Collegiate Church," which aired nationwide on CBS on December 24, 2018.

In the 1980's Deborah and British music composer, Julian Marshall, formed the duo Eye to Eye and recorded two classic albums with Warner Brothers: "Eye to Eye" and "Shakespeare Stole My Baby," both produced by Gary Katz (Steely Dan).

In 2006, the duo recorded a third independent CD: "Clean Slate," produced by Rhett Davies (Roxy Music). Deborah has published and written over 50 original and co-written songs.

In 1999, she recorded and produced her first solo album, "Places Where I Dream."

In 2009, Deborah co-wrote with Doug Katsaros the new theme song for "Great Museums," the only nationwide television series devoted to America's museums.

Deborah lives in New York City with her husband, Mike McCarthy. They have two sons, Dan and Keenan.

She also has four stepchildren and nine grandchildren.
