Album Notes
Deborah originally recorded this arrangement on her “Classical Spice” album, released in 1998, and this is the re-release as a single, as she has shortened it and updated the instrumental background. She especially loves to use this arrangement as an opener for her keynote speaking engagements. Deborah has a special love for the classics and has contemporized some of her favorite classical compositions on several albums, including the duo-piano album from Double Grande, “The Classics Rock.”

Deborah began studying piano at the age of 9, focusing mainly on improvisation and the chords. She did not start her formal classical training until reaching her high school years, studying under Joanna Hodges, first U.S. woman concert pianist to perform in Communist Russia. She quickly fell in love with the classics, even as Joanna insisted she play the notes written on the page and not all of the other notes she heard in her head!

The discipline of her classical training paid off, heard in her technique, but also the expansion of her ear paid off in her arrangements. As Deborah is able to hear a melody and harmony and play it by ear, she has become a prolific composer, making many of her songs available for film, licensing and other uses.

Arranged and performed by Deborah Johnson. DEBORAH JOHNSON, is a National Recording Artist, Composer, Speaker and published Author. She has recorded dozens of albums, written 3 original musicals and has appeared on many stages around the country and world. She also appears with the headliner piano/vocal duo Double Grande. Her internationally released book, Stuck is Not a Four-Letter Word, has garnered great reviews (on Amazon & Barnes & Noble) Deborah’s songs have also been up for multiple Grammy Awards.

Produced and Performed by Deborah Johnson. Basic production and piano tracking by Deborah at DJWorks Studios. Additional production, guitars and bass by Michael Ferenci. Recorded at Ferenci Studios, Silverlake, CA.
