Album Notes
When I returned to live in the United States after 18 years overseas between Algeria and France, I decided to put together a repertoire of my favorite French songs, drawing from iconic composers/performers such as Edith Piaf, Yves Montand, and Charles Trenet, pop music star Enrico Macias. My own arrangement of Can't Help Falling in Love With You ties in the familiar pop song with the 17th century tune it takes its melody from "Plaisir d'Amour."

Wonderful musicians helped me with this project - Cellist Pawel Walerowski, Classical Guitarists Doug Wendt (my husband) and Gordon Rowland. Aram Boyd's Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI) Trumpet provides flute, saxophone and oboe sounds.
I perform the piano and vocals.

Arrangements are minimalist--I believe a beautiful song should be able to stand alone with one vocal and one instrument!

Comments from live performances--
Your kind of talent makes the world a better place :) "
"Your singing gives me goosebumps"
"You've put together quite a repertoire"
"The French songs she sings are the ones we grew up with."
"You've got a golden voice there"
"I had a lovely time tonight and it was largely because of you"
"Je suis venue rien que pour vous voir et je ne regrette pas!"
"I'd like to know who your voice teacher was. Your voice is so rich in the lower tones, yet you can still reach the high notes."
"What a voice, I can't believe your voice!"
"Everybody loves Deborah!"
