Album Notes
Dear Listener,

This album is a dream come true. Each of these songs has allowed me to plunge deeply into my heart and culture, and return to surface with a "pearl" of new-found respect for an island far away, its people and the exotic rhythms of the music.

Strung together like a priceless strand of pearls, these songs are my conversations with you, the listener. It's joyful for me to tell you how I feel through my own words and those of others. My journey has coloured each word and story so that each has its own sheen.

Thank you for diving with me to find the treasures within these songs.

This Album has the Feel and Punch of a Live Show. The "Show" invokes a definite personality, It tells a story, sets a scene, cuts an atmosphere throughout of Late Summer night Jazz Bars, low ceilings pulsating tables, dancing couples and and the sultry jazz fan leaning up against the wall in dark glasses so hard he appears to be part of it. There is a good variety of Songs on the Album, keeping the interest and pace throughout, Over all the Album sits between Lounge and Salsa. Worth picking up. Well Rounded . Easy. Engaging.

Diving For Pearls is a Latin Jazz/Pop Treasure!
Deborah Ledon’s Diving For Pearls is an exquisite album from Vancouver’s most talented, overlooked singer-songwriter. Deborah’s sensational, passionate voice not only pays glorious tribute to the artists she covers on this album (standouts include Joni Mitchell’s “Help Me” and Eden Ahbez’ “Nature Boy”), but she makes each song her own with its’ unique arrangement and the contribution of her fantastic band. Deborah’s version of “Historia de Un Amor” will tear at your heartstrings even if you can’t understand Spanish and her own compositions are downright provocative. This is the perfect album to play either at the end of a hard week as you’re enjoying a bottle of wine, preparing for a dinner party, or any time you just need a boost. Even though thematically, the songs encompass the struggles we endure as we live and love, the whole album comes across as very positive. Once you’ve listened to it once, you’ll reach for it again and again!

Diving for Pearls
This is a beautiful and amazing CD, I was blown away when I listened the first time and had to listen again to each track. Well done Deb and your lovely band of musicians, you have created a gem.
