Album Notes
Listen to Debra’s debut CD, Cat Walk Boogie & Blues... a diverse collection of boogie woogie and blues! The CD features her original composition "Cat Walk Boogie" with Debra on piano and Jim Murray, drums and Jay Olaszek, bass.

When Debra Hope Miller, a.k.a. Little Debra, became interested in the blues and boogie woogie, she became immersed in the two styles. She has been influenced by many great blues pianists including Ray Charles, Otis Spann, Erroll Garner and Erwin Helfer. Her musical education began with formal training in classical piano and music theory in college. She then took many years off from playing the piano in order to build a business. She loves many styles of music, and has written music in other genres too, including classical.

Debra plays a lot by ear and with her soul. She is an arranger, pianist, author, composer and singer-songwriter. The title of this debut CD comes from Debra's composition, "Cat Walk Boogie", which is a nod to the playful and inquisitive attitude that our feline friends bring to everyday life - the same kind of attitude Debra brings to the piano.

On Cat Walk Boogie, Debra brings her musical styling to a world that's still in love with the greats. On behalf of Debra, she hopes you enjoy this tribute to piano blues and boogie-woogie...and invite you to feel the music in your heart!

Note: My piece Cat Walk Boogie was inspired by my two cats, Buffy and Max who would sit next to Debra when she played the piano. See the children's book, Buffy Blues and Boogie Woogie Max...Two Cool Cats by Debra Hope Miller to read the story. Can purchase at:

I love your choice of material for the CD, in particular the tango/swing tune and the general nod to our ragtime past, sly little Monk riffs and other tasty touches. You don't hear much straight boogie-woogie these days and it's refreshing.

Little Debra covers a range of ballads, blues and boogie territory on her Cat Walk Boogie and Blues CD. There were several favorites of mine, with After Hours being the top. Little Debra brings life to old classic standards like \"Georgia\" and \"Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans\". In \"Georgia\" one can hear a sensitive rendition recalling Hoagie and Ray. Her original piece, \"Cat Walk Boogie\", is short and sweet like a feline frolicking on the keyboards. \"Otis in the Dark\" a tribute to Otis Spann, I compared to Otis\'s 1961 original and he would have been proud. In \"Ain\'t Nobody\'s Business\", there is a tasteful laid back piano sound. And \"How Long Blues\", another blues classic, Little Debra covers both ends of the keyboard with the steady slow tempo and the melody accented with frills.
