ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Deep is an exotic blend of Indian classical music and Trip-Hop, Trance, Pop, and Alternative Rock. It is an unprecedented blend of styles that flow naturally between each other, yielding a new intelligent global sound.

Deep is a story about a man and his journey through love and loss, drinking, and his subsequent alien captivity. Begin the journey with this album, and then follow Deep as he is reborn two-hundred years into the future, and then to a timeless end. Who is Deep? What did they implant in his brain? And what did he write on his cell wall?

Deep is the culmination of the efforts of fifteen artists from both San Francisco and Chicago. From standard rock through a tapestry of global sounds, Deep somehow remains familiar while distinctly sounding unlike anything you have heard before.

Deep is a mysterious producer who tangles stories with music, and technology with intimacy, all with the unique ability to bring the various tangents together as a whole.

This is your chance to own the first release of this breakthrough project! There are only a limited amount of CD's issued in this exclusive packaging, and each disc is numbered and signed by the artist!

It feels as if Deep is reaching into my innermost private thoughts, and sonicall
So, this is one of those cds that I got in the mail, only hearing a few tracks online, not really knowing what to expect. The sound here is unlike anything else out there. At times it feels like Erasure ("More Than Words Reveal") and at times it feels like a Phish Jam ("Joy One Last Time"). But overall, what Deep delivers is a new sound, a new concept in "asian" music. It seems that Deep is approaching the tunes differently than everyone else, instead of trying to make Indian music sound Western, he is making Western music sound Indian.

Then there are the lyrics. In English.
This unto itself renders the music more accessible to western ears than it's Hindi-driven counterparts elsewhere. Bollywood sensibilities of the male/female duo are reflected in the same vain here, with themes ranging from drinking to love loss (which may lead to the aforementioned drinking). Quite relatable if you're the semi-adventurous type that's had relationships and tasted alcohol...

The sound has an 80's New Wave flavour to it, but the South Asian angle on the vibe makes it all the more interesting. My only criticism of this sound would be the male vocals (Deep's I'd assume). They work in some tracks ("Joy One Last Time," "I believe I" and "Laugh") and fall flat in others such as "Dirty." And this is unfortunate since the lyrics in all the tracks are simply gorgeous. Sometimes, it feels as if Deep is reaching into my innermost private thoughts, and sonically delivering back to me my emotions verbatim.

The final result:
an artist worth watching in the coming years as his sound progresses and matures.

This album breaks down the stereotypical Asian Massive doors and demands attention - Plain and Simple. The musical composition is stunning - it works blissfully with the emotional charge in the voice of Deep himself and the female vocalist- whose name is nowhere in the CD (personally, a little disappointed at that fact).

For once a musician in our genre has put out an album dealing with the emotions and problems that afflict the most of us on a personal level; such as love, lust, trust, bills, payments etc. To most listeners, the above statement will bring worries that this album will turn out to be purely a pop one. While that might hold true at a few moments - Deep does show his talents outside this listless genre (what exactly is pop music anyways - stuff of the 80s is very different that today's cookie-cutter boy bands). Notable examples of fusion are track 2 with the sitar, track 7 which has a string segment that could easily belong in a classical album and, track 12 that contains long droning female vocals and a groove worthy electronic beat which fluidly leads into a flute line and mellow vocals wishing us to not go. This personally is the best track on the album.

On a final note, outside of a few tracks, each track on the album has a very infectious listenable quality to it.

The best blend I've ever heard!
This isn't an Indian Remix CD that pretends to American, this is and original American CD that has it's roots in India. I just got the CD and I haven't stopped listening to it!
I highly recommend that everyone pick up a copy soon. I got copy number 1134 of 3000 so I don't think these copies will be around too long. It's so cool how each one is signed and numbered by Deep. My favorite song is Drowning in a Cup (track 9), which you can't hear on this site. But the ones you can hear are all really cool.

I'm hooked from start to finish!
I've listened to this CD over 20 times in the last 2 days!!! And the whol thing is awesome! I love the way it starts and sets a mood with the Intro Song. The track has alot of Indian Flavor on top of a mello groove. The lyrics are all seductive like, and then the end just goes crazy.
The second song is totally club madness! The girls voice is really cool, and the song builds up like crazy. The third song is the track that I like the least. It's good but it's a bit too europop-ish for me. The fourth song is another really cool dance track with that spanish guitar flavor.
The 5t and 6th songs are all really chill grooves. There is an indian part on the track 5 that is one of the coolest musical parts I've ever heard!
The 7th track is my favorite! LAugh has just a sweeping melody that makes you feel like your floating!
The 8th song is the catchy-est to me. I keep singing the lyrics way after I hear the album. I can totally hear this one on the radio.
Track 9 is a really great song with really great lyrics. Actually the lyrics on the whole album are really good. Great guitar solo at the end.
Then the album gets pretty artsy. The last three songs are just beatiful and intense. They work together like a trilogy as all of the songs blen together well, but each track is totally different. Track 10 is a really cool indian song with alot of exotic instruments. It builds into a huge climax, where the lyrics are just brilliant! Then the song slams into this trippy track, which flows into a really hypnotic pulsing beat with this girls voice just floating on top.
I must say that this album was such a great find, and I can't wait to hear more from Deep. And I really hope that people discover this great album!

Interesting, unique, special
I can't help but to be reminded of some of the Beatles Indian music experience. While not Indian music, Deep combines the sounds with sounds you might find in Enya, Tangerine Dream, and other New Age-ish music to create a sound that is truly special. The mood is calm, mellow, with a little beat.

This is my favorite CD at the moment!
Alright, got this CD and have been sitting on it for a while, trying to make it out. This is definitely, I mean definitely a unique CD. As far as South Asian music goes anyway. Actually, I don't think I can put it into the SA category. It definitely has the overtones of our music, but the majority of the lyrics and the melodies and entire sound is just really Western with a hint of Desiness blended in.

Deep is the name of the artist and he is from Chicago. This guy has ideas and tunes in his head that I only think of when I'm in deep thought. And I'm not playing on words either. And you know what? This is my favorite CD at the moment. Its literally deep. I think when this guy was born, his parents named him Deep because they knew he'd be one deep son of a gun. The thinking, the writing, the result, very in tune with how a guy in his early to mid-twenties feels. I mean half the time I thought the songs were about me.

We've got a total of 12 tracks here. With the obligatory Intro and Outro and all. But the entire concept is just brilliant, if not more. The singing, the music, the talent, it is without question beautiful! My favorite track is the Outro, just because I could drive for hours listening to it, oh how soothing...

Now, I would not be surprised if this guy ends up on the radio with the music he's put together here. It is perfectly in sync with me and I know for a fact, that if you are an open minded and worldly individual, that you will also fall in love with this CD. If not the first time you listen to it, I promise you the second or third time, you will go into a daze listening to Deep.

Another fine creation from Chicago. Be proud Chicago, be very proud!
