Album Notes
"I Stay Out Too Late" represents the 2018-2019 period of Delirium Street Party Brass. After collecting and releasing the critical recordings with Margo on the album "House Of The Rising Sun" the band found they were still in demand for weddings, clubs, and other shows around Calgary. A wedding in Banff in August 2018 was the impetus to recruit Kevin Waites. Jace Laing, Margo's daughter, stepped up to the plate to sing a critical love song at the most beautiful outdoor wedding ever, and the band was off to the races again.

When we were invited into the Academy of Production and Recording Arts (APRA), to work with their students, we recorded one of the wedding requests "Hooked On A Feeling" in the amazing Beach Audio studios in Calgary. This was a great time for the band.

Next, we added to our repertoire two songs by our most important influencers, Taylor Swift and The Cat Empire. "Shake It Off" represents the best of dance pop, and the attitude that our music brings to the dance floor. It's not just your crappy ex-man that needs to be shaken off, you need to shake off all the judgements and troubles that the world tries to put on your back and hit the dance floor at the next brass band gig in your town.

"The Cat Empire" are the band we wanted to be, but with guitars and other silly instruments that you don't bow through or hit with sticks. Wonderful song writing, amazing performance, beautiful singing, great horn lines, a bit of New Orleans vibe. Go see "The Cat Empire" the next time they tour through your area, or come see our cover version of "Brighter Than Gold" and we'll bring the same vibe to your dance floor.

One of the amazing things about Calgary is "Rocking For Dollars", a full-band open mic at "Broken City". These happen every Wednesday, and they usually have a bit of a theme. We love Broken City and the theme on the Wednesday we could come was Fleetwood Mac. Sean Devitt arranged a full on horn extravaganza of "Second Hand News" where the only lyrics was an opening chorus of "Lay me down in the tall grass". It finishes with a nice trombone solo.

"Hooked On A Feeling was recorded in late 2018, the other three songs were recorded in early 2019.
