Album Notes
EXCELSIOR ([ek-sel-si-ohr) - 1. excellent: ever upward 2. motto of New York State.
“Excelsior” is the newest album from Do For Self Entertainment artist’s Demorne Warren also known as D- 007 / D- Dub. This album will surely have Hip Hop heads applauding the work put in to make it a future classic. Demorne Warren states“I wanted to make a great album that would stand the test of time, like many of my favorite albums that are now 10 to 20 years old and still sound great today… "I named the album Excelsior as an ode to the city and state I'm from New York” Upon listening to this album you will notice this Queens bred current Brooklyn resident is displaying his lyricism with perfect choices of hardcore, energetic and head nodding beat productions. Veteran sound providers by the likes of Domingo (Kool G Rap, KRS-One, Eminem, Joel Ortiz) and Hillie Hill (Nas, Busta Rhymes, Pharaoh Monche) do an excellent job on the productions that are showcased, Demorne’s rhyme styles synch perfectly on to their sonic excellence. There are also stand out productions showcased by E-Lo, Kawan "Loud Nixx" Leonard, Somalian 7, Warlord, and Luis “Sabor” Tineo that are featured. The album has two other artist featured including Juan P on the sparse neck snapping “Word Of Mouth” produced by E-Lo and Avion on the defiant “Mustard Gas” produced by Luis “Sabor” Tineo”. This is the second album by Demorne Warren and it’s an incredible follow-up to his previous 2006 release “The World According to D…”. I will end this by quoting Demorne Warren from his title track Excelsior “I do this the correct way/ all you (gotta do) is press play”
