ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Den Högre Musiken" (The Higher Music") is a fantasy novel series (so far only available in Swedish), which takes place in a world where people with a special gift called The Spark can do magic things with music. In the first part of the series, "Provet i Philipopolis" ("the Test in Philipopolis"), we get to meet Elena, a young orphan girl growing up at a music boarding school in Bulgaria, where she learns to play the Kaval flute. One day a mysterious man comes to visit, and offer the students of the school to do a test to see if they have the Spark. Those who have, may follow him to become students at Scola Kosmomusiologis, a special school for children who have the Spark. Elena decides to give it a try. Because if she has this special gift, maybe some of the mysterious things that happened when her parents were taken by Silencio could be explained.
This is the first volume where you can listen to some of the music happening in the first book in the series. It´s intended to be listened to while readling the book, but can of course also be enjoyed separately. One or more volumes is under production for the first book, and there is also music to be released for the 2nd book, "Scola Kosmomusiologis".
Appearing on the recordings are some of Sweden´s and Bulgaria's finest musicians within Traditional and other Acoustic music:
Ahmad al-Khatib, oud
Dan Svensson, percussion, vocals
Nabil Kassis, qanoun
Temelko Ivanov, kaval flute
Vladimir Petkov, keyboard
Mousa Elias, oud
Todor Bakoev, gadulka
The Folk Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Pär Moberg, soprano saxophone, whistling
