ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Surf Over the Reef" represents the first commercial recording by Dennis Soares. For those of you who can remember back to 1975 we lived in an analog world with vinyl disks being the end product. This album was recorded and produced by Dennis Soares at a local studio in Honolulu, HI on 4 and 8 track reel to reel machines. A few years ago the original recording was digitally re-mastered. Three songs (In Hawaii, Thank You Girl, and Run Around In Circles) received a fair amount of local airtime when this album was released. There were a number of lessons learned from this first project. 1) Find a way to own the means of production- Dennis started his own recording studio/production company in 1984. 2) Engineers and session musicians can be expensive so learn how to be an engineer and learn how to play as many instruments as possible. (20 and counting) Hope you enjoy this look back to another time and place.
