Multifaceted composer/musician/record producer
Dennis Soares is a Multifaceted composer/musician/record producer Dennis Soares is hands down
one of the most prolific artists in Hawaii, albeit much better known on the
Big Island than in Honolulu. This collection of original improvisational
instrumentals is Soares' 103rd CD and his eighth project pairing slack key
with instruments that complement its soothing sound.
Soares writes that his objective is to "create improvisational works in open
tuning." To keep everything as "live" as possible, he resisted the
temptation to go back and redo recordings. Soares' fans will appreciate his
intent and enjoy the beauty of the music exactly as it is.

Sherry Silva

I really do think it is brilliant the way that Dennis is attempting to use Open Tunings with orchestral instruments. I don't know any other artist doing this. Keep it up. Warm, soothing, and nurturing.

Jen Smithers

Two Favorites
I liked all of these tracks but two in particular stood out "In Your Loving Arms" really worked and "Decay and Rebirth" was quite different from all the rest. These were fun to listen to.

Julie Thomas

Quite Interesting
The are some unusual and interesting tracks in this collection. I particularly enjoyed "Decay and Rebirth" and "Red Sails." The use of different tunings give these songs an unusual texture. Great.

Henry Jones

Perfect for walking in the woods
I have several of Dennis' Open Tuning CDs and love using them on my daily walks in the woods. Very relaxing and puts me into a contemplative state.

Marian Silverton

If you enjoy mellow background music this CD has some wonderful selection. Really enjoyed it.

Jilian Smith

As good as it gets...
Dennis has refined the technique of expanding Open Tuning. While these tracks are all played in what is commonly called slack key one would be more inclined to classify them as contemplative, meditative, and experimental. Personally I love what Dennis is doing.

Jean Dixon

Wonderfully Crafted
Such a huge range of music coming from this artist. I almost don't believe this is Open Tuning. I think my favorite thus far is "Red Sails" although I really like "In Love With The Girl."

Jim Westbrook

Smooth and Easy on the ear
I love these compositions. They are so easy to listen to in the background. It is hard for me to believe that they are all improvisational works.
