Running On Gravity

by Dennis Wanebo

These twelve songs are as varied as they can be: from “Flamenco” to the “Queen of the Blues” to a country-rocker about a long-ago car crash that still haunts—yet despite this music’s complexity and instrumentation, you will always hear the unmistakable heartbeat of the single acoustic guitar that brought it into the world.

Album Notes
Dennis Wanebo is from Boulder, Colorado. His music arcs across blues, rock, pop and gospel. Regardless of the musical template, however, Dennis’ lyrics betray the heart of an Irish storyteller, and the eyes of a city-desk reporter.

As songwriter with Bob Story for the Martian Acres Band, Dennis won three John Lennon International Songwriting awards, and a nationwide OurStage Songwriting Competition. The pair’s music enjoyed occasional bursts of international popularity, as well as a coterie of devoted fans in their own Colorado backyard.

Dennis has now turned his storyteller’s heart inward to themes of love and regret, and his reporter’s eye outward toward the gathering storm in the American dream.

The resulting, unabashedly melodic, collection of songs gathered in Running on Gravity is uniquely Dennis Wanebo . . . but the feel of this music may well put you in mind of singer-songwriters like John Sebastian, Jesse Colin Young, and James Taylor.

Running on Gravity

The evolution of a singer/songwriter
I've jammed with this guy to the wee hours of the morning for over 17 years. I've always enjoyed the songs that he's written. In early bands, all we did were covers. However when Dennis did a cover song, he gave it everything, and could cover anyone. His strong tenor was a gift. Dennis, along with Bob Story formed "Martian Acres" which began to promote Dennis' songs, and songs co-written with Bob. This album, Running on Gravity, is really one of the best efforts so far. Dennis is never at a loss to expose his heart in his songs. "And from All Time" is a dedication to a new grand daughter, and repeatedly makes me cry. Yes, I'm a friend of Dennis, but this work stands on its own as great compilation of beautiful tender songs and ballads. A must for any collection!

It Doesn't Get Better Than This
I have jammed, sung and recorded with Dennis Wanebo for over 17 years. I've admired his co-writing with Bob Story and Martian Acres. But I have to admit, this album has me mesmerized. Dennis' lyrics and music have always touched me, and this debut solo album (with Bob Story as producer) is simply excellent. I still tear up when I hear "And From All Time", which is a ballad to a new granddaughter. Don't take my word for it--check out the samples. A very smooth, introspective album.
