ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Departure Party is the new name of formerly know NZ band "Yor Cronies".

The change of name was a decision made as, lead singer and frontman, Jojo Martin took on full responsibility and creative ownership of the band.

The band was first established in 2013 in Napier, Hawkes Bay, where Jojo & Benny first met and bonded over their love of music and classic films. They decided to try to make their shared interests into a coherent musical experience, which failed miserably.
Instead, they started focusing on a music style based more on Jojo's personal experiences with depression. Jojo started writing music as a healthier way to express his darker thoughts, which gave him an outlet for his personal mental health struggles and provided the potential for others to relate to the music they created.

Departure Party strives to create music that brings darker content, such as suicide and mental health struggles, into a conversation without glamorising or glorifying the topics whilst still bringing a heartfelt and some times comical outlook on such an uncomfortable topic.
