Album Notes
Ever wonder where some of those old favorite hymns came from? Many melodies were written long before they were put to the words we're familiar with.

Joseph DeRosa has taken the most beloved of these sacred hymns and blended them with various styles of music - baroque, jazz, blues, meditative - to compile an hour of exciting, soothing, and uplifting music.

Joseph has been playing piano since his mother, Margaret, began teaching him at age three. Her unique expression and dynamic style are present in his own playing, whether he's performing with the classic rock band Papa Clutch, or accompanying and singing as Music Director of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Reno, Nevada. Joseph plays several instruments, including guitar and drums, and has produced many albums and jingles. Perhaps you've heard his music on Immaculate Heart Radio, a network of ten radio stations in Northern Nevada, California, and New Mexico.

BEAUTIFUL! The arrangements are delightful....not simplistic nor simple either. Wish they were notated so that my students could play them.

I was raised a Baptist and became a Presbyterian in college. It has been some time now since I have gone to any church other than that of the running trails, but the hymns that Joseph plays strike a deep chord within me (sorry about the pun; couldn't be helped)--even those that are unfamiliar to me. These old hymns have the power to evoke some very strong emotional responses even in a lapsed Christian like me.

I'm a writer, and as I'm working I often like to listen to music that I think complements whatever I'm working on at the time. I'm happy to say that this is something that's been my rotation lately.
