I was born in Ireland for something I didn’t do and I have lived in Australia for over 30 years, most of them in Adelaide.
My Australian odyssey started on the east coast and I spent some years travelling there, working professionally in Tasmania under the stage name Dez Perrado, The Human Jukebox, for some years before settling in South Australia.
I describe my music as a sort of celtic & western with the emphasis on beautiful lyrics and melodies - as old as the hills and as young as tomorrow..
As an award-winning songwriter and lyricist as a member of SCALA (South Australia’s internationally recognised Songwriters, Composers & Lyricists Association), I tend to favour songs of lyrical and poetic beauty with positivity and optimism frequent themes.
Dreams, quests and adventures as well as a rich fantasy world are recurring themes in my songs and poetry, and it is often in sleep that ideas and songs are manifested. I'm a bit of a dreamer – but with both feet planted firmly in the clouds - who started out with nothing and still has most of it
I hope you enjoy my songs from the gently melodic folk style of The Sign of the Claddagh, O Ro Tir na nOg and Wings of Angels as well as the 'westerns' Train Of Dreams, Lo and Behold! and Deloraine, get lost in The Book of My Days and be carried away by Big Wing and White Horses.
During my musical travels from those legendary roots to where I am now, I've journeyed some miles with that great-grandchild of the old, old ballads - country & western music - and great company, it is too.
