ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Grammy-nominated singer, Kate Hart created "Detroit Women" based on the successful group "Seattle Women." Seattle Women were pulled together for one show in Seattle and still going strong 18 years later. Kate has returned to Detroit and formed this all-star revue with the top women singers in the Metro-Detroit area.

Collectively the women in this group have been nominated and/or the recipients for over fifty-regional/international music awards and featured on over 300 recordings.

What fans and industry professionals have said about DW:

“This is the best group out there.”…Solomon Burke

"When they all sing simultaneously, they create a sonic rumble like a Mustang rolling off the assembly line."… The Record, Ontario Canada

“It shouldn't surprise anyone that a group of blues women from the Motor City are more tough than tender. They know how to belt a bawdy blues song.."… Mike Cote, Blues Revue Magazine

“Your group’s appearance at the 2004 Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival has people begging for more.”…Bruce Hutchinson, Producer

“I would be interested in a potential repeat performance next year…Thanks for a great show this year.”…Mark Monahan, Program Director, Ottawa Music Festival

“Thank you…it was a blast on the most apparent level, but it was a joy on a deeper level too… the soul and love and wisdom coming out of your music and voices…I thank you …Dan Smith, Ohio State Fair

"Wow, you all were awesome! Don Cohen, Musicians Exchange, Riverwalk Blues & Music Festival Florida

"You lived up to your billing, you were amazing!... Dan Graham, Blues, Brews & BBQ Kitchener Ontario

“…Kate Hart and the ladies of Detroit Women…definitely stole the show on Saturday…all have some wicked pipes”…Aaron Childs, Jackson Blues Festival

“I have more than 20 years experience and your group was one of the best organized, run and performing group I have seen…I look forward to working with you again”…Greek Town Music Festival

"I'm still on a high from the DW's absolutely amazing show yesterday in London!! WOW, what an act they are. Wanted to let you know that they blew me away, and given the fact that I see and hear a ton of artists every year, that's pretty good . . .~ Tim Holek, Freelance Journalist www.timholekblues.ca

". . . I must tell you again - and I can't attach enough exclamation marks and smiling faces here - what an honor and a thrill it was to meet each and every one of you! You graced our city with your presence and your music. Never to be forgotten!." ~ Ken Wright, Thunder Bay Blues Society
“Eight of Detroit’s hottest divas, backed by a powerhouse band. They belt out the blues served with a three-fingered shot of funk jazz and gospel…the women have conquered Michigan’s summer festivals and wowing audiences and critics…Ken Marten, The Mirror, Michigan

"With Detroit Women, it's all feet, no seat."…Cincy City Beat

“I have been listening to your CD; amazing!! It is like the Detroit Women are 7 Bonnie and Bekka Bramletts all in one group. Real singers! I have been listening for this sound since Mad Dogs and Englishmen. ”…Blues Evolution

“Joyous, uplifting, confident and earthy… A connection between sound and spirit. Detroit Women not only showcases outstanding vocal and songwriting abilities. It proves that great soul comes strictly from the heart. ”…Kindra Wentworth, Music Critic, The Stranger

“Detroit Women ‘took me to church’ last night with a great new CD. Not only are they all vocal powerhouses, but the band backup was great…right in the pocket…Great work!”…Rob Moitoza, Bassist for Brian Auger, Spencer Davis, Tom Scott and Sugarloaf

If it gets any better than this, it's probably illegal...
If it gets any better than this, it's probably illegal in 34 states. This CD is what live blues should always be about: compelling singers telling you why life is great (even though parts of it may suck), a band that's subtle when you need it and a battering ram when you need that too, and a helluva great time all the way. I'm holding my breath for their next one.

This CD rocked, wailed, jammed and moaned, interspersed with moments of hilarity
This CD rocked, wailed, jammed and moaned, interspersed with moments of hilarity. These songs made me laugh, drive faster, sing loudly and occaisionally dance around my kitchen like a crazy person. Definitely worth it.
