ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“This is true fusion with influences of New Age, Jazz, Orchestral film score, Latin, Tahitian, and Afro Cuban rhythms."

"Dennis’ compositions, as a computer sequencer musician, are totally amazing. As I understand it, Dennis has done all the tracks from scratch and doesn’t import or loop any sounds on the recording. He plays and records on a Kurzweil MIDI Board with multiple keyboards and sampling modules.
Shaun Tokunaga took the photo, and did the art work, for the front cover and I found out that he, and Dennis, hiked all the way back to Manoa Falls, in Hawaii, to get the right shot for the cover.

This is a compilation of new unreleased material from Dennis. Thick with exotica and birdcalls, it paints tropical musical pictures.

From the opening of “Dawn” which is a very awakening 2 cups of coffee, New Age song, to “Bali” which reminded me of early George Duke, to “Bedouin Nights” which is a beautiful plaintive track with sampled oboe and violin trading leads, to “Seller’s Cellar” which is a very ‘Gary Burton’ish’ Jazz cut with piano and vibes, and “Lobo Pro Bono” which is a great modern jazz fusion cut.
“Johnny Ringo” which sounds like a movie sound track follows, and “Alvera Street” is New Age Latin Jazz.
“Chicharones” sounds like a Sergio Mendez influenced Pop Latin recording, and “Deepak’s Chicken Pox” fuses pop east Indian New Age and urban, with a Gregorian chant.
Quite a few of these songs have a drive with a very professional understanding of percussion and drum rhythms.
“Paradise Beach” reminds me of 70’s George Duke, and “Jontee” is a great Latin New Age cut. “Where are You?” is very outside, and Miles Davis comes to mind.
Then follows “Antigua” which is a movie based groove, ‘driving in the car,’ feel. The last cut, “Sunset on Titan Moon” is spacey New Age music which put me right up there on a moon of Titan when I listened to it."

"I do believe this compilation of Dennis’ work is wide in variety but some of his best work to date.”

Primal rhythms/ jungle beat
Few keyboard composers can capture the raw sound and feel of a grooving percussionist. Dennis Graue is one of those rare musicians that can. He must have started his career as a drummer, because no matter how many layers of textured and exotic sounds he puts on top, he never forgets the rhythmic pulse that carry his songs forward. Highly recommended!!!
