Four Stars: “Crescendos wonderfully” –Austin Monthly

An exceptional debut EP from a drummer who's played with two former Faces; Ian McLagan & Ronnie Lane, as well as Charlie Sexton, Joe Ely & Billy Bragg. A Dance in Red, Open Music Volume One features many of Austin’s finest musicians: Ephraim Owens (trumpet), Graham Reynolds (piano), Craig Ross (guitar), Brian Standefer (cello), Guy Forsyth, (harmonica), Bukka Allen (accordion), John Mills (bass clarinet), George Reiff (bass), Mark Andes (bass) and David Abeyta (guitar).

"One listen to the opener “Dance in Red” and it’s apparent that one should brace themselves for an engaging blend of Middle Eastern, blues, rock, ambient, jazz and classical influences … In the Middle East, the color red symbolizes sacrifice, courage, love and passion … Harvey and his star-studded affair capture that mood. More of a timekeeper in the Bump Band, here he is able to display the full extent of his talents in a thoroughly engrossing musical setting." --Jeff Boyce, Jupiter Index

WOW!!
What a cool myriad of styles, tones and textures.... When I played it for my wife, she said "I loved it! - I wanted more....." This is a very sophisticated blend of music that really allows the listener to envelop the mood Don Harvey is projecting..... What a great debut!! - Can't wait to see the next project...!
