Album Notes
"Such maturity and depth in her writing, with each offering on this brilliant CD sounding like a standard but with an extra large portion of freshness, and that ain't easy. Let's have more from Diane." Brian Soundy "Jazz in the 21st Century" UK Jazz Radio.
“This is great jazz in a contemporary vein showing the skills of the musicians and Diane, and the adherence to a tradition of excellence…” Dick Judelsohn, WBFO Radio, Buff. NY
“These are all original compositions of Diane’s on the CD. I really like it and will keep this one on air through the coming weeks and months.” Suzanne Carroll, Jazz Brunch 101.5 The River, Toledo, OH
More Than One Ingredient is the follow-up album to the 2011 EP release, We Blend. The success of the EP led to expansion of the trio and single-voice ensemble to include saxophone and accompanying vocals on the full-length CD. The music is a modern combination of jazz and pop influenced by Diane’s appreciation of a variety of genres from Venezuelan jazz to French pop to the Black Keys to Bongo Maffin's South African dance music.
“Your album sounds amazing!”wrote Roman Lunz, MTV Russia. "This dame's got it all...soulful disc," writes Martin from Belfast, Ireland. "Diane has a marvelous, jazzy voice, I love it." E. Marquez, Germany. "OMG. She's got a beautiful voice," A. Jayathilaka, Sri Lanka.
The unique talents of the musicians and vocalists are demonstrated in the variety and dynamism of each track on the album.
Pianist/chartist Krista Seddon is exclusive transcriber/copyist for Marian McPartland and appears in venues in Europe, Asia, and the US.
Bassist Bud Fadale got his start in Germany playing with Duke Ellington and Carmel Jones, and worked in the US with Spyro Gyra's Tom Schuman.
Drummer Carmen Intorre Jr. a graduate of The Juilliard School, has performed with George Benson, Wynton Marsalis, and Larry Coryell. His album, For The Soul, is on Random Act Records.
Saxophonist Harry Fackelman toured with the Amherst Saxophone Quartet and has recorded with classical and jazz artists. Accompanying vocalists are: Jeanne Fadale, singer/flutist, who has performed and recorded with a variety of jazz and R&B groups; and Clarissa Markiewicz, experienced jazz/rock/pop vocalist, who has performed as lead vocalist throughout New England and in NYC.
Diane began singing as a teenager with such jazz greats as Don Menza, Anne Fadale, and Sam Noto. In 2006 she changed musical gears from interpreting the music of others to writing and recording her own songs. More Than One Ingredient is her latest offering.
