ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Diane gathers a band of superb players to revisit everybody's favorites from many decades of American music. The mood varies from perky jazz-age gems to smoky blues to rock-and-roll abandon, plus a couple of Diane's originals.

This follow-up to 2014's "Let's Do It!" adds pianist Larry Luddecke to the band. The players' artistry is captured in old-school splendor by Eric Kilburn at Wellspring Sound, using classic mics and an antique reverb apparatus for the full, rich sound of yesteryear. The album sparkles with the energy of live recording, as the instruments blend, step forward for inventive solos, then settle back into a perfect groove.

That groove is beautifully set by Bill Reynolds on drums and Peter Tillotson on acoustic upright bass. MIke Duke adds guitar, and Billy Novick plays clarinet and sax. Larry Luddecke tickles the ivories on Wellspring's amazing grand piano.

Diane's vocals flow through the band's enchanting sound, her voice taking on different inflections and tones to suit the mood of each track. There are, of course, a couple of her own compositions: "Something to Love" is a slow blues meditation on one way to make it through life, and "Why, Oh Why, Are There Mosquitoes?" ponders the age-old question that has ever vexed humankind. We enjoy Eric Kilburn's caffeinated mandolin, and Peter Tillotson tootles the Sousaphone.

Another wonderful collaboration on some of the best songs ever created.
